Class of the Month

HIIT is becoming the most popular trend in fitness. HIIT is an awesome way to burn fat, increase your VO2 max (the amount of oxygen your body can use and an indicator of cardio fitness), reduce your lactate accumulation (you can train harder for longer), and increase enzyme activity to reduce fatigue. HIIT is perfect to achieve ALL your exercise goals. Challenging, stimulating and body changing. Wednesday evenings 19:45-20:45.

Teenage Technique

Does your teenager train with weights or resistance bars? Are they focused on lifting the largest weight possible ignoring technique? Do they focus mainly on one body part? Do they even know what their core stabilisers are?

The Ilkley Fitness Centre is proud to provide an after school resistance based class designed to teach your teenage children the importance of technique for their safety and to develop their body in the correct way. Your child's bones and joints are not fully formed and can be unstable, so the wrong resistance training is detrimental to their growth. I will teach them the how and why of resistance training so that they are confident and well informed to help them achieve their exercise goals not just for now but setting them up for the future. Also the importance of core training to stabilise and protect themselves from injury in all aspects of their lives.

The class will be 30 minutes long and is suitable for 14-18 year olds. Classes will be on Wednesday evenings 4:00pm and 5:30pm.

Teenage Posture

Does your child spend all their time hunched over an electrical device? Phone, laptop or tablet. Can you see them developing poor posture? This will effect them in years to come. Bad necks, bad backs, slumped posture and a weak core. Do you know that children as young as 2 are growing in this position?

The Ilkley Fitness Centre is proud to provide an after school class dedicated to improving your child's posture and stability muscles. This class will help your child to recognise their posture issues, observe the cause and provide the corrective action they can incorporate into their everyday lives. Simple non-impact Pilates based exercises to improve posture, strengthen stability muscles, improve their coordination and flexibility.

The class will be 30 minutes long and is suitable for 11-15 year olds. Classes will be on Tuesday evenings 4:00pm and 5:30pm.

Chair Based Exercise

Do you worry that an exercise class will be too much for you to cope with? Many people experience mobility issues but need exercise to help improve and delay more mobility issues. A vicious circle. This class will be chair based and will include light resistance exercises to improve your bone density and joint stability. Pilates based exercises to improve your posture and core stability. Stretching exercises to improve your flexibility and general functional exercises to help you in everyday life.This class will make you more able and give you greater confidence to live your life to the full without fear of doing too much or being overwhelmed by too strenuous exercise. A better fitter you with like minded people.
